Cervical Pedicle Screws
Pedicle screws are implanted in the pedicles or lateral mass of the vertebra and the vertebral bodies. The pedicle screw low profile head, or the extravertebral part, has a “tulip” type design that enable the rod to be top-loaded in it. For the cervical range, there is only one type of pedicle screw:
Polyaxial screws are designed to allow an angle of mobility helping the fitting of the rods inside heads of the screws even if they are not aligned (polyaxiality of +/-30° is allowed). The global sizes of cervical screw are reduced compared to lumbar pedicle screws.
