Lumbar Pedicle Screws

Pedicle screws are implanted in the pedicles of the vertebra and the vertebral bodies. The pedicle screw low profile head, or the extravertebral part, has a “tulip” type design that enables the rod to be top-loaded in it.

•  Monoaxial screws and Pediatric screws are one-piece screws with low profile heads, set with
  a locking screw. The pediatric screws have an inner ring providing a better screw/rod interface.
•  Polyaxial screws are designed to allow an angle of mobility helping the fitting of the rods inside
  heads of the screws even if they are not aligned (polyaxiality of +/-30° is allowed).
• Cannulated screws are monoaxial or polyaxial screw with a through hole which allows cement
  injection. They also have a low-profile head, and they are set with a locking screw. They can
  be used during minimal-invasive surgeries.
• Reduction screws are designed to correct the deformities of the spine without using
  instruments which eases the surgical procedure. Extension tabs are then broken and removed.
• Monoplanar screws are polyaxial screws with only 1 axi of rotation (where polyaxial screws
  have 3).
• Multiplanar screws are polyaxial screws with a different locking screw which is in two parts: 1
  to lock the pedicle screw head in any orientation, and 1 to lock the top-loaded rod.
